Music Review of Imagination to Inspiration by Richard Mekdeci
Written by admin on November 1, 2009 – 8:59 pm -I met Richard Mekdeci, the heart and soul of Itoi Music, at the recent (August 2007) IONS (Institute of Noetic Sciences) Conference. In addition to Richard’s considerable talents as an inspirational singer-songwriter and musician, Richard is a co-founder of I to i Ministries,, a non-profit dedicated to bringing positive spiritual music to people of all faith traditions. Part of what I to i Ministries and Richard have created is an opportunity to vote on your favorite songs, which can be accomplished online.
Their latest compilation CD, Imagination to Inspiration, is a truly wonder-filled chalice of heart-opening songs. Focused on the Global New Thought community, which includes Religious Science, Unity and affiliated churches, Imagination to Inspiration showcases 19 tracks by 18 different musicians. Every song features inspiring lyrics that invite us to co-create a world where everyone, everywhere feels safe, loved and celebrated. Having listened to this fabulous collection perhaps a dozen times, I can say that I have yet to get all the way through it without, sooner or later, tears of joy and thanksgiving streaming down my face.
Just a couple of my favorite songs on Imagination to Inspiration include the piano-based, county-tinged “Real Men Cry,” by Karen Taylor Good. Giving men permission to feel their feelings is a passion of mine, and I love what Karen did with this track. “Do All You Can,” by Devotion, is a delightfully intoxicating call to “be the change you wish to see.”
Richard and I to i are performing miracles with truly inspired (in-spirited) music every day. Listening to this incredible collection is sure to put a smile on your face and a song in your heart. Kudos to Richard and his amazing team for Being the Change!

Puddle Of Mudd Famous Rock Music CD Review
Written by admin on October 26, 2009 – 12:10 pm -Not sure what’s happening with me on this one, but it seems like the more I listen to it, the better Famous gets. Famous stated simply is one of their best CDs to date.
Famous opens with an outstanding track, Famous, that I anticipate will be heard on radio stations everywhere, and deservedly so. It’s a really nice track.
Puddle Of Mudd is one of those groups that have the ability to just bowl you over with their collective talent. The kind of musicians it’s really a treat to be able to listen to.
I give Famous my highest recommendation. It just plain belongs in any serious music collectors collection regardless of genre preference.
While the entire album is really very good some of my favorites are track 2 – Livin’ On Borrowed Time, track 5 – We Don’t Have To Look Back Now, and track 11 – If I Could Love You
My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 1 – Famous. It’s a great track!
Famous Release Notes:
Puddle Of Mudd originally released Famous on October 9, 2007 on the Geffen Records label.
CD Track List Follows:
1. Famous 2. Livin’ On Borrowed Time 3. It Was Faith 4. Psycho 5. We Don’t Have To Look Back Now 6. Moonshine 7. Thinking About You 8. Merry Go Round 9. I’m So Sure 10. Radiate 11. If I Could Love You
Puddle Of Mudd: Douglas Ardito (vocals, guitar, bass guitar); Christian Stone (vocals, guitar); Wesley Scantlin (vocals, guitar synthesizer); Ryan Yerdon (drums).
Additional personnel: Tim Pierce (guitar, electric guitar); Duane Betts, Lee Miles, Andrew Berlin, Christopher Jak (guitar); Brian Howes (guitars); Tony Fagenson (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, piano, keyboards, bass guitar, percussion, programming, background vocals); Max Collins (acoustic guitar); Xandy Barry (electric guitar); Tony Battaglia (gut-string guitar); Jamie Muhohberac, Howard Benson (keyboards, programming); Abe Laboriel Jr. (drums, percussion); Mark Pontius, Josh Freese, Kenny Aronoff (drums); Lenny Castro (percussion); Gabe Witcher (background vocals).

Music Reviews – Adam and the Ants: Dirk Wears White Sox [1]
Written by admin on October 25, 2009 – 6:39 am -In my second album review, I take on Adam’s first album, before the burundi drumming and inevitable pop selloutism. Just about all of part one is about a single song. lol.

Bobby Hutcherson Now Jazz Music CD Review
Written by admin on October 24, 2009 – 1:53 pm -Richly talented Jazz artist Bobby Hutcherson has released him latest album titled Now and Wow! It’s really a good one.
I wish it weren’t the case but, it’s not everyday that I get a CD from an artist that I can just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. There is usually a song or two that I just can’t force myself to get through. Not at all the case with Now. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.
One of the refreshingly nice things about this CD is the way all of the participating artists seem to be really enjoying themselves. Combine that with the overall presentation and you’ve got one of Bobby Hutcherson’s most impressive releases ever.
Listen to this CD and I believe you’ll find there’s not much to dis-like about it. The songs are inspired, the production is simply outstanding, and Bobby Hutcherson is clearly in top form. So much so that if you’re even mildly into Jazz music you’ll enjoy this album.
While this entire album is outstanding some of my favorites are track 2 – Hello To The Wind, track 6 – Slow Change, and track 9 – Now
My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 1 – Slow Change. This is a great track!
Now Release Notes:
Bobby Hutcherson originally released Now on October 5, 2004 on the Blue Note Records label.

Music Review of Achillea – The Nine Worlds
Written by admin on October 14, 2009 – 6:22 pm -In all the years I’ve been reviewing music (13 and counting) one of my favorite labels has always been Sequoia Records. David and Steve Gordon have consistently released a plethora of cool music, their own (including the bestselling Sacred Drum series of Native/World music) and that of numerous other artists, with dozens of titles available. In fact, the first CD I ever received and reviewed, Music of the Tarot , came from Sequoia. As if their music wasn’t enough, the Gordon’s have a strong “green” ecology ethic, and it feels really fabulous to support what they do.
Having said that, I must add that the Gordon’s have recently stepped up their game. As evidence, I present Achillea: The Nine Worlds, by Jens Gad, a core member of Enigma, one of my very favorite groups of the past fifteen years. Those acquainted with Enigma’s music will instantly find Gad’s sound deliciously familiar. A master of the guitar as well as a studio wizard, Gad’s Achillea: The Nine Worlds is gorgeous, sensuous, hypnotic, juicy and full of delightful surprises.
Signature dance rhythms, wicked bass and awesome synthesizers create an awesome accompaniment to Gad’s guitar. The most brilliant facet of all is the classical vocals of Helene Horlyck. Gad weaves all of these musical elements into Achillea, The Nine Worlds, a worthy addition to the library of Enigima fans, or anyone who appreciates world-beat dance grooves and musical adventures of the spirit. Free sound samples are available on Sequoia’s website. Check out the whole catalog, they have much to offer the discerning listener.

Music Reviews – XTC: Go 2
Written by admin on October 12, 2009 – 6:06 am -Link to the album and its individual songs on my XTC Wiki: xtc.wikia.com Includes lyrics for all the songs. The rest of the site is still under construction, though. I intend to review every XTC album. Consider all other projects canceled for now, except for a couple requests I promise to complete, (they probably know who they are).
