Simple Tips for Piano Practice
Written by admin on January 26, 2010 – 1:05 pm -Learning the piano is best achieved through the incorporation of a twenty minute practice session every day. This consistent piano practice is better for your learning than fewer, longer sessions. When you can strictly follow your piano practice routine each and every day you will be sure to see results quickly.
No matter who you are it is likely that when you are first starting to practice the piano you will not want anyone to hear your efforts. Try to find time to spend with your instrument when you are sure no one else will be listening to increase your confidence. Be patient with yourself throughout the learning process and try not to get frustrated when things aren’t going smoothly.
Before moving on to a new piece of music, make sure that you have completed the previous piece at the correct tempo. You don’t need to jump straight in to the more complicated pieces of music and it will discourage you if you can’t master them right away. In practicing daily you’ll find that you soon develop the skill level to move from beginner piano practice to more advanced techniques anyway.
Tempo is something that should always be in your mind as you practice the piano. When you first start out stick to a slow tempo to allow your fingerwork to improve gradually; in the end it doesn’t matter whether a piece is played quickly or slowly, as long as the tempo is smooth throughout. This allows for the emotion of the piece to be correctly expressed.
Try not to be disheartened if it seems you aren’t making any significant progress through your piano practice. Keep up your daily practice and you will be improving your overall expertise. It might seem to be a slowly but surely approach but you will start to see yourself getting better with time. Optimizing your practice sessions with these piano practice tips will help you to get the most out of them each day and help you to see results more quickly.
Firstly make sure that your fingers are nicely relaxed before starting to play. Stretch and flex them to help to loosen them up a bit and ensure that they are at a reasonably warm temperature; freezing cold fingers will not help you to play.
For the best piano practice do some warm up exercises on the piano to begin with. Play some simple patterns calmly and consistently, speeding them up as you become more confident.
If you find that you are struggling with one particular piece of music try to dedicate some additional time to your piano practice until you master it. Giving this additional attention to awkward tunes will help you to jump over the hurdles that you face more quickly.
Take the time to go back to some of the content from your beginner piano practice sessions as you get more advanced. It will be a big confidence boost to hear the pieces that you struggled with initially being played more fluidly.
If you want to play the piano for fun or in concert you will quickly be able to improve your performance with these simple piano practice techniques.
